Automotive Engineering Specialist Group (AESG)

Introduction

The AESG is a special interest group formed in mid-2007 under the Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture and Chemical (MMNC) Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). The main objectives of the AESG are to help promoting the professionalism of the engineering discipline in the motor industry and organize activities with particular focus on various aspects of automotive engineering to meet the needs of those engineers working in or associated with the motor trade.

There are at present 15 core members in the AESG and they are all professional engineers in the motor trade and corporate members of the HKIE. These core members have strived to contribute for the well-being of the local motor trade by offering critical views and comments on those government proposals and planned public programmes that are related to motor vehicles and/or may have impacts on the motor trade before they are launched. They have also organized relevant activities in pursuit of the objectives of the AESG. In order to provide opportunities of Continued Professional Development to more engineers in the motor trade and thereby enable them to keep abreast of the latest technological developments in automotive engineering, the activities of the AESG are organized not merely for the members of the HKIE but for all engineers in the local motor trade. Of course, all the others who have a keen interest in motor vehicles are also welcome to join the activities of the AESG.
