Abstract and About the Speaker
This seminar is aimed at covering the following technical issues about
water-based paints for automotive
applications:
(i) The functions and properties of each layer of chemicals normally
applied for automotive surface refinishing;
(ii) The performance indicators of surface refinishing paints for
automotive applications;
(iii) The advantages of water-based paints in comparison with the
traditional oil-based counterparts,and the relevant regulations
governing volatile organic compounds in Hong Kong;
(iv) The difference in finishing quality and durability between the
original surface paints applied in automotive manufacturing processes
and those applied for automotive surface refinishing; and
(v) Equipment for water-based paints and the required spraying
technique. Our guest speaker Mr. Fox FOK has been working in the
coating industry for automotive refinishing and OEM products for over
35 years. With over 20 years of experience on water-based paints, he is
currently a part-time instructor in Vocational Training Council
teaching the relevant subject. Mr. Fox is currently working for PPG
Industries which owns the global business of automotive refinish and
industrial coatings of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), one of the
renowned suppliers in the automotive paints market.
