Programme HighlightsHappy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme is a part of flood prevention scheme initiated by Drainage Services Department, in order to alleviate flooding risks of Wan Chai District.
The Underground storage tank is built underneath the Happy Valley Recreation Ground in 2 phases, with total capacity of 60,000 cubic meters, equivalent to 24 standard swimming pools. The total cost of this project is $1.07 billion.
This project successfully obtained multiple awards, such as 2012 IWA Project Innovation Awards - East Asia Regional Awards in Planning Category, NEC Awards 2015 - Highly Commended New Engineering Contract (NEC) Large Project of the Year and obtained Platinum Rating of Provisional Assessment under the BEAM Plus V1.1 for New Building.
