Technical Webinar on Innovative Drone Detection Technology

Date, time & venue

2020-05-20;7:00pm to 8:30pm;Webinar

Programme Highlights
Drone technology has advanced tremendously in the past few years, and today drones significantly aid in surveying, disaster relief, delivery, and myriad business and consumer applications. In the wrong hands, however, a drone’s accessibility, capabilities, and ease of flying makes it especially suitable for hacking, surveillance, and terrorism.

For example, countless stories have been appearing in the news over the years regarding drone activity in airspace, citing safety concerns for passenger aircraft and disruption of airline operations. These risks are clear – a drone crash into an aircraft will cause damage to both vehicles.

Another example, while energy manufacturers and utilities are implementing drone surveying and inspection programs around the world, these organizations must also protect critical infrastructure, such as power stations and water reservoirs, from unwanted drones. With drones becoming ever more inexpensive, easy to fly, and able carry heavy payloads, the risk of not securing the airspace only increases every day.

The speaker will introduce latest technologies to detect malicious drones using advanced hardware and software to integrate various sensors into a highly efficient detection network: RF sensors, PTZ cameras, radar systems. If a drone is detected and located, defensive measures, such as jamming, can be activated if the organization has authorization. The system provides important database on drone activity in monitored airspace as the basis for an effective airspace security concept.
