Technical Visit to Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Treatment and Recycling Facility (WEEE·PARK)

Date, time & venue

2018-11-03;9:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.;Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Treatment and Recycling Facility (WEEE·PARK)

Programme Highlights
The WEEE·PARK is designed to collect, sort, detoxicate, dismantle and recycle waste electrical and electronic equipment. It would be a precious opportunity for our members to appreciate the advanced technologies and equipment which are able to deliver exceptional recycling rate and the concept of turning waste into reusable materials.

The WEEE·PARK, which is located in the EcoPark in Tuen Mun, is a state-of-the-art e-waste facility in the region, and is developed to support the producer responsibility scheme (PRS) on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) for better management of the regulated electrical equipment (REE) waste generated in Hong Kong. Designed with a capacity of handling 30,000 tonnes of WEEE annually, the WEEE·PARK makes use of advanced technologies for necessary detoxification, dismantling and recycling processes, turning e-waste into reusable materials such as plastic and metals.

The purpose of this visit is to enable participants to gain better understanding of the operation of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Treatment and Recycling Plant, including various equipment and engineering methodology deployed.
