Technical Seminar on the Review of the Air Quality Objectives

Date, time & venue

2019-09-23;6:45pm to 8:15pm;Chan Yat Mei Sophie Room – 9/F

Jointly Organized with Environmental Division and Logistics & Transportation Division

Programme Highlights
Hong Kong’s air quality has been improving steadily in the past several years as a result of the implementation of a wide range of measures targeting vehicles, marine vessels and power plants. Concentrations of major air pollutants have dropped by about 30% at roadside and 30 to 50% at ambient levels.

To progressively attain the ultimate targets set under the World Health Organisation’s Air Quality Guidelines, the Government reviews the Air Quality Objectives (AQOs) once every five years with a view to exploring new air quality improvement measures and assessing the scope for tightening the AQOs for the next five year period.

The Government has completed a review of the prevailing AQOs in end 2018 and launched a 3-month public consultation on 12 July 2019 to solicit public’s views on the review findings and recommendations to tighten the AQOs.

This seminar will share with members the process, findings and recommendations of the AQOs review.
