Technical Webinar on Fossil fuel fired high pressure boiler - design and materials selection

Programme Highlights
The Presentation will focus on fossil fuel fired high pressure boilers. Briefly chronicling the history of boiler development, the scale-up in unit size over time to todays 1000 MWe sized plants, the presentation will look specifically at design and materials selection. Key features of both subcritical and supercritical boiler plant will be discussed.

Speaker
Mark Upton retired in 2020 from the position of Chief Engineer (Process & Performance) working with Doosan Babcock but continues to work as an independent consultant. Trained as a mechanical engineer he holds BSc and MSc degrees and is a registered Chartered Engineer. His career spans over 35 years in the power generation industry.  Initially working on Fluidised Bed combustion projects and then moving on to large conventionally fired utility boiler projects Worldwide, he has gained wide experience. In recent years he has been deeply involved in the provision of 600 MWe class and above, supercritical pulverized coal boilers in the Asia/Pacific region, as well as on the supply of oil fired and natural gas fired boiler projects in the Middle East region.

Additionally, he has authored a number of published papers and given a number of Technical presentations at various events and conferences around the World.

This seminar is free of charge and prior registration is required.  The number of participants is limited to 150. Applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis with priority given to members of MMNC Division. Only on-line registration via MMNC divisional website http://mc.hkie.org.hk/ shall be accepted for registration. Attendance E-certificates will be issued after the event.
