Technical Visit to Siu Ho Wan Sewage Treatment Works Solar Farms

Date, time & venue

2017-12-09;11:15 - 12:45;Siu Ho Wan Sewage Treatment Works

Programme Highlight
Commissioned in December 2016, the solar farm at the Siu Ho Wan Sewage Treatment Works (Siu Ho Wan STW) is well known for being the largest solar farm in Hong Kong. By making use of 4,200 nos. of polycrystalline photovoltaic (PV) panels, the total generation capacity of this solar farm is over 1,100 kilo-watt (kW) and its estimated annual electricity generation is about 1,100,000 kilo-watt-hours (kWh). The generated electricity of the solar farm accounts for approximately a quarter of annual energy consumption of Siu Ho Wan STW by supplying electricity to the equipment and treatment process via the internal power distribution network.

In this technical visit, our participants would be able to appreciate the incorporation of waste-to-energy technologies and concept of harnessing the renewable energy in the Sewage Treatment Works. The innovative design features of this solar farm, e.g. intelligent Direct-Current combiner box and centralized monitoring system, would be also appreciated in this visit.
