Programme Highlights
SENT Landfill Gas Treatment Plant
The Tseung Kwan O South East New Territories (SENT) Landfill Gas Utilization Project was commissioned in 2017. The landfill gas collected is converted into synthetic natural gas in a treatment facility at the landfill site, then transmitted to the offtake station in Tseng Lan Shue through a 12 km pipeline and finally integrated into the gas supply network. As one of the largest energy conservation and emission reduction environmental projects in Hong Kong, a production capacity of 8,000 cubic metres of synthetic natural gas per hour is achieved. This waste-to-energy project is expected to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide by 56,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to the 2.4 million tree seedlings.
TGT Hong Kong Data Center 2
Operated by Towngas Telecom, TGT Hong Kong Data Center 2 has an area of about 22,000 square meters and is able to accommodate 3,000 drive cabinets. Opened in December 2014, the new data center is a five-floor stand-alone building in compliance with the TIA-942 Tier 3+ facilities and achieved LEED Gold certification under the commercial interiors rating system. Visitors would be guided to tour around the data center facilities such as UPS, MMR, Data Hall, R&D, etc. Also, we can appreciate the environmental commitment by TGT which adopts solar panels, landfill gas chillers, oil-free chillers, NOVEC 1230 fire extinguishing system and more.
