Programme Highlights
Utilizing landfill gas to fuel the combined heat and power (CHP) system to generate electricity and supply steam and hot water for various hospital facilities, Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital is the first hospital in Hong Kong to adopt such an environmentally friendly system, adding another milestone in the development of renewable energy in Hong Kong. Not only does this system save electricity costs for the hospital, it also reduces carbon emission effectively.
This energy project has won two international awards presented by the Association of Energy Engineers, including the “Energy Project of the Year 2018 – Pacific Rim Region” and “Institutional Energy Management – Pacific Rim Region”. It would be a valuable opportunity for our members to learn about the smart usage of the CHP system, the benefits of distributed energy system and social engagement on sustainability.
