Highlights
The Private Healthcare Facilities Ordinance
(Cap. 633) (the Ordinance), gazetted on 30 November 2018, introduced a new
regulatory regime for private healthcare facilities (PHFs) comprising
hospitals, day procedure centres, clinics and health services establishments in
Hong Kong. Pursuant to section 102 of the Ordinance, the Director of Health may
issue codes of practice to set out the licensing standards in respect of the
equipment, fittings and furnishings, management and staffing, quality of care
and patient safety, and other matters for protecting the health and interest of
service recipients. Heatlhcare engineering systems of a PHF, including
electrical installations, specialized ventilation systems and medical gas
pipeline systems, are important to ensuring safe delivery of service to
patients.
The technical seminar will introduce the
requirements, standards and guidelines of healthcare engineering systems of
private hospitals and day procedure centres. The presentation will also cover
the requirement of certification of the design and installation of healthcare
engineering systems in private hospitals by registered professional engineers
of a relevant discipline (i.e. electrical, mechanical or building services).
