Buying a flat
is undoubtedly one of the big decisions in everyone’s life and good quality of
fitting out works can ensure our living quality. Many young engineers, likely
the first-time buyers, might lack of experience of flat inspection before they
moving in. It is really annoying that you find serious problems such as
water seepage in your new flat after you move in. Flat inspection is a good
preventive measure and risk management. This webinar aims at sharing the tips
on flat inspection including 6S principle, 719 standard and 6 main categories
of common defects. It will also introduce inspection methods, reference
standards and some key points of inspecting common defects in flats. The tips
are suitable for the owners or tenants of residential premises such as new
flats, second-hand flats and new interior decoration works in Hong Kong.

Mr. Lai Tat Ming, Technical Director of Hong Kong Survey Limited
Mr. Lai Tat Ming has been a specialist in water seepage investigation of buildings and building inspection in Hong Kong for over 20 years. He obtained the Bachelor Degree of Public Administration and Management (Housing Studies) and Postgraduate Diploma in Facilities Management. He is a member of RICS. After he graduated from the university, he had been Japan, United States of America, United Kingdom, Denmark, Australia and China for oversea professional training of building diagnosis and inspection. He is specialized in water seepage investigation, decoration survey, flat inspection, structural diagnosis and damage assessment. He has been working as a building inspection technologist to introduce and promote building diagnosis and inspection technologies and provide local trainings and seminars for professionals and the public in Hong Kong. He is now the Technical Director of Hong Kong Survey Limited and Centre for Building Inspection Limited.
