Webinar on Acoustic Metamaterials for construction and industrial noise control applications in Hong Kong

Date, time & venue

2023-09-11;6:30pm to 8:00pm;Webinar via zoom

Programme Highlights
Acoustic metamaterial is a new and advanced material that utilizes specially designed structure to perform sound absorption. Compared to conventional acoustic materials like rock wools and sponge, metamaterial provides not only better noise absorption capability, but also spectrum customization ability and excellent material durability with comparable price. Such a technology can be widely applied in construction sites, buildings and other related fields.

In this webinar, the following topics will be covered:

-        Brief introduction to the physics behind acoustic metamaterial

-        Application of acoustic material

-        Indoor application of metamaterial panel

-        Metamaterial in HVAC system

-        Application of metamaterial in construction site

Speakers
Speakers include Dr. Min Yang and Dr. Mak.

Dr. Min Yang, one of the founders of Acoustic Metamaterial Group Ltd, graduated from the Physics department of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2014. During his postgraduate study, he focused on studying metamaterial technology and waves physics. His study lays the technological foundation of the company.

Dr. Ho Yiu Mak graduated from the Physics department of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2022. His research field is mainly related to metamaterial and acoustic waves. After his graduation he joined Acoustic Metamaterial Group Ltd as an R&D engineer. Since then, he has been focusing on the application and development of acoustic material.
