Technical Seminar: Operational Experience of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Double Deck Bus and Prospects of Using Hydrogen Technologies for Public Buses in Hong Kong

Date, time & venue

2025-03-05;7:00pm to 8:30pm;Chan Yat Mei Sophie Room, HKIE Headquarters, 9/F Island Beverley, No.1 Great George Street, Causeway Bay

Programme Highlight
In Hong Kong, franchised buses face a lot of challenges like sub-tropical climate, hilly terrain, long service hours and high frequency of service. While battery electric buses may tackle these problems like what diesel buses are doing, there are some new issues like insufficient mileage to support one day's service, long battery charging time, reduced carrying capacity and limited battery life. On the other hand, hydrogen fuel cell buses theoretically may overcome all these problems and the technology is still developing. If green hydrogen is used, it will be absolutely zero emission, not only roadside. Hydrogen is our future and green hydrogen is our destiny

However, the path ahead is not so straight forward. Would onboard liquid hydrogen be the ultimate solution?
