Technical Seminar: Advanced Water Mist Systems for Battery Fire Suppression

Date, time & venue

2026-01-14;6:30pm - 8:00pm;Chan Yat Mei Sophie Room – 9/F

Programme Highlights:

This Technical Talk offers an in-depth comparison between water mist fire protection systems and traditional fire protection methods, such as sprinkler and gas-based systems. It will encompass both technical and commercial aspects, aiming to provide participants with a holistic understanding of the key differences and performance characteristics.

On the technical side, the seminar will discuss system components, activation mechanisms, extinguishing efficiency, water consumption, space requirements, safety considerations, and compatibility with different risk categories. From a commercial perspective, factors such as initial installation cost, maintenance demands, lifecycle cost, regulatory compliance will be addressed.

The Technical Talk will also offer the recent fire test results on battery fires, especially Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) fire,  Electric Vehicle(EV), Electric Bus (Ebus) and share the recent revision of international codes and standard related to battery fire protection.

Case study will be presented. It will cover the specific design processes of water mist systems implemented in various environments, highlighting design criteria, system layout, integration challenges, and post-installation performance outcomes. The Technical Talk will provide attendees with concrete insights into how water mist systems are engineered and applied in practice.
